Download Compatibility Mode

Shorten long file and folder names so downloads work on systems with path-length limits, such as Windows.

Written by Judy Ann Vargas

When downloading multiple files at once using the Bulk Download feature, you may occasionally run into the following Windows error when attempting to extract your files:

"Windows cannot open the folder. The compressed (zipped) folder is invalid"

This issue typically occurs when file or folder paths exceed the standard Windows path-length limit. Enabling Download Compatibility Mode automatically shortens long file and folder names during export, ensuring your downloads extract smoothly on systems with strict path limits.

How to Enable Download Compatibility Mode

  1. Click on the Account Settings icon located in the bottom-left corner of the screen.

  2. Navigate to Personal Settings and find the Download compatibility mode option.

  3. Toggle the switch to On.

  4. Click Save to update your settings.

Once enabled, attempt your bulk download again. The downloaded zip file will now be formatted with compatible path lengths and will extract seamlessly without errors.
